MTI Histroy and milestone

– 1994 Founder   Dr. Xiao P. Jiang  received Ph.D in materials Science and Engineering from Chinese Academy of Science in 1988.  He studied in MIT as post-doctoral researcher  for super conductor crystal under supervisor of Prof. M.C. Flemings.   He published more than 30 papers on High Tc superconductor and its crystal.
1994  MTI Corporation was established  to supply single crystal substrates for superconductor film with little capital.
1997 MTI set up a joint venture in Hefei, China to produce LaAlO3, SrTiO3 and MgO etc single crystal boules and substrates
2000 New Focus Inc. invested  5 millions dollars to MTI  for producing single crystals and optical components  for fiber-optics, then MTI became one of the major manufacturer of oxide single crystals, substrate and optical component in the world.
2001 MTI  set up a factory in Shenyang, China to produce precision cutting and polishing machines and a factory in Shenzhen, China to produce smart wafer containers
2002 MTI donated two CZ crystal Growth System to Stanford Research Institute and California State University at LA separately to help them to build up crystal growth Lab with total worth $600,000
2003 MTI developed many new crystals substrates for III-V and II-V, such as LSAT, Spinel, CdWO4, CdTe etc  and  still kept profitable when “fiber optics bubble” was broken
2004 MTI continues growing and created the history high sales both in crystal and machines. Especially MTI high temperature furnaces got in global market.
2005 MTI provides full sets of equipment for material research from mixing, pressing, sintering, cutting, polishing and X-ray analysis.  and donates two sets of crystal grower ( $400,000 worth ) toMaterial science and Engineering dept. of Northeast University, China, where MTI founder  Dr. X.p. Jiang achieved BS and MS Degree.
2006 MTI’s factory in China (Hefei) moves in 100K SF facility, and will expand lab furnace production line in mass production.
2007 MTI developed and supplies new crystal wafers, including Ge upto 4″ , InSb and InAs up
2008 MTI bought and moved into new facility with 30K SF in Richmond, CA94804, USA, and achieves sales in history high
2009 MTI developed extra high temperature furnace ( GSL1800X ) and gas mixing system with furnaces, and become one of major supplier of laboratory furnace for material research in the world.
MTI donated USD$100,000 worth  full set of lab equipment to Material Science Engineering dept. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) , where MTI founder , Dr. Xiao.P. Jiang studied as postdoctoral fellow. The donated equipment can be shared by all MTI Alumni Contact Prof. Geoffrey Beach at gbeach@MIT.EDUto discuss possibility.
