ENERGY LOSSES IN BENDS AND FITTINGS

EXPERIMENTAL CAPABILITIES:
  1. Measurement of the flow rate.
  2. Measurement of loss coefficient for a short elbow, for sudden enlargement and contraction.
  3. Measurement of loss coefficient for large and narrow elbow.
  4. Measurement of loss coefficient for gate valve.
ENERGY LOSSES IN BENDS AND FITTINGS

ENERGY LOSSES IN BENDS AND FITTINGS: the pressure drop occurs during the flow of real fluids in during pipes and networks. This is due to the friction and the turbulence and must be taken into consideration when designing piping systems and networks.
Photon module is used to study the pressure losses in pipes, fittings, valves and piping elements. In addition, the different types of losses are presented. Water is fed to the device using the hydraulics bench.
This module consists of a hydraulic circuit with a set of elements that disrupt the normal flow of the fluid which circulates by the pipe, because of sudden section and direction variations, as well as friction. These elements are two elbows of 90o short one and a middle one, curve of 90o or long elbow and sudden contraction
