Wien Bridge

8- Wien Bridge

Overview
The Wien Bridge is a type of electronic circuit used to measure frequency, and it is most commonly used for generating sine waves. It consists of a bridge circuit that includes two resistors, two capacitors, and an operational amplifier (op-amp). The Wien Bridge is used for determining the frequency of oscillation at which the circuit resonates. The condition for resonance in the Wien Bridge oscillator is:

where:

  • R1 and R2 are resistors,

  • C1 and C2 are capacitors.

Significance
The Wien Bridge is widely used in signal generators and frequency measurement equipment. It’s significant for producing accurate, stable sine waves in oscillators. Its application includes use in audio frequency generation, laboratory testing, and as a basis for various forms of signal processing.
